It’s also approaching hush on the move, with its diesel engines being among the quietest currently on sale.

It doesn’t judder or shake over bumps, and the road and wind noise are kept to a minimum. However, it doesn’t lean or roll in the corners, and it generally handles itself very well.
It stands out in a parking lot as well, thanks to Lexus’s signature spindle grille and the myriad of sharp creases. The interior is a nice place to be as well, thanks to the metallic trims and angular design. You also get a cruise manager as standard to take the stress away from daily driving.
9. Skoda Fabia UX

If you want something comfortable and worth your money, the Skoda Fabia pops up in these boxes. It’s a cheaper replacement for its stablemate, the Volkswagen Polo, and it’s a great all-rounder with nice equipment levels and accurate practicality. It may not be the most exciting car to drive, but it handles well enough and copes brilliantly with bumps in the road. The big windows make for great all-round visibility as well.
You have a choice of three gasoline engines, two of which are turbocharged. The higher-powered 110-hp turbocharged unit is the best option because it can be optioned with an automatic gearbox and it has enough power for daily life.
